In Mayendit

Yesterday, I visited Mayendit county to monitor our shelter project.
"Tukul(local traditional housing)" in this region has unique shape(compared to Tukuls in the other region) and well installed structure!

Construction everywhere!

Now South Sudan is in dry season.
So if you drive around the outskirt of Juba, you can easily find houses with materials in their garden for sale.

African game??

I saw this in outskirt of Juba. I couldn't understand how to play.
But in the other African countries like Kenya, Uganda & Ethiopia, I saw similar ones.

So far around 60? people and other management staff already arrived in Juba.

Juba Orphanage

Today, I visited an orphanage in Juba with my Japanese friends.
Since I've heard about a group who is visiting the orphanage regularly on Saturday, I always wanted to join. But somehow I always missed chances and today was my first visit.

Last week, I received an email says they are fundraising for school tuition for the kids. Thanks to the support from my friends and colleague, I could fund raised around USD 800 in 2 days! Hope the kindness from them reach them and contribute for their future!
If you are interested in, you can also support the kids from here!

Mr. Abdul, Director

Malaysian oil company also support them.

We had a homemade Japanese dinner on last weekend.
The menu was... Temaki sushi, Chirashi sushi, Okonomiyaki, Ma-bo- Nasu, Egg soup! The last two are Chinese though.

It is always nice to get together, cook together and chat over nice dinner ;-)

And we got some Japanese retort foods gift from Japanese Self Defense Force colleague! So nice of them!

Shelter of Refugees

At the Refugee Settlement, I saw some beautifully decorated shelters! Impressive!!

The house owner told us that they burned old tire and mix with lime sand(after the melted tire became cool), then applied it with hand.
Unfortunately, they said it can't be water proof but they told us that they like the texture and color of it.
